All the baby sweater love today ❤️❤️ Ever since I first bought this yarn (at least 6 years ago), I knew I wanted to pair these 3 colours together in one project, especially the light purple with the yellow. Eventually I landed on the #twinklesweater by @midori_hirose_knit and it has quickly become one of my favourite sweaters!! The fit is amazing, and the colourwork pattern is so unique. Down the road, I am extremely tempted to make another one. Maybe next time white and orange? Guess what? I created a language, and it’s published in a book!! This is my yay-I-finished-my-3rd-year-of-university post . . . and I’m only 3 weeks late on sharing it 😅 This is also my first post showing off my new haircut and my braces! KARL! I made this sweater for him last year, and it makes me so happy every time I see him trotting around the house in it. I miss wearing this sweater!! For the past year it’s been sitting in a drawer, waiting to be redone . . . and it definitely will be there awhile longer 😭 The reason it’s been there is because I knit the sleeves of this sweater while on vacation, and I guess I wasn’t paying much attention because one turned out longer and wider than the other. Oops! 😵‍💫 I spent a couple years wearing it anyways even with this slight annoyance, but finally I decided I would be much happier if I just redid a sleeve. But then I realized it would probably be less time consuming to re-knit both sleeves rather than do a bunch of counting and measuring to match one of the existing ones exactly. And then I got thinking, while I’m at it, I should redo the last several inches of the body because it has far too much ribbing for my liking. And THEN I was like, hmm, since making this sweater I’ve accumulated some nice neutrals of the same colour palette, rather than re-knitting the sweater the same way, I should eliminate some of the less neutral colours currently on the sleeves and replace them with these new yarns. If I’m doing it again, I’ve gotta do it right!! Dressing like it’s summer and NOT midterm season 😵‍💫 Send good vibes for my French literature exam tomorrow lol. I used to be able to tell when I took certain Koselig photos based on the length of my hair, but now I can tell by the state of my teeth. In November I got braces on my upper teeth and just this morning I got them on my lower teeth . . . And as you can see, in this picture I have no braces at all, so it’s definitely from before then. I may be extremely tired from homework, but I will never get tired of working with scrap yarn 😍 This is a custom brioche knit, scrap yarn headband I made as a commission a couple Christmases ago. People always ask where I bought this funky shirt, but actually it used to be my grandma’s! I originally had kept it just for the fabric, to maybe sew a mask or a tote bag, but I soon realized that 1) it was too sentimental to cut up and 2) it would make a fun cardigan. Now I wear it all the time— I love to pair it with my knitted tops. Happy Weekend! Well, technically it’s Friday, but close enough. I’m probably going to spend most of my weekend doing homework, but I’m crossing my fingers I’ll be able to squeeze in some knitting time. I’ve been in the final stages of a cute custom order for about a week and have been dying for an opportunity to finish it up. All that’s left is weaving in the ends and blocking it!! ✨First post of 2023 ✨ As promised, here’s some behind the scenes of my Halloween costume! I had lots of fun making it, and for once I actually took the time to document the process. Happy Halloween 🎃 "I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" Despite it nearly being October, the weather here in Vancouver has not cooled down. Guess I’ll be wearing my knit and crochet tank tops for a little while longer 😉 I’ve had this pattern in my queue for a loooong time, and it was so fun to finally knit it this summer! I haven’t done much lace knitting, so it was great to have an opportunity to play around with that. Also, how could I say no to following this pattern when I had three yarns that colour coordinated so well, in exactly the amount of each of them that the pattern called for!! Happy Fall! 🍂 Comin’ atcha with some cold weather vibes even though it’s still 25 degrees (Celsius) out. Yes, I’m back. After 2 months of posting nothing but Instagram stories, I’m back. That said, I feel like in the caption of every post this year I’ve included some variation of, "hey it’s been a hot second, but now I’m back." I think I’ll actually be back consistently now . . . we’ll see. Don’t get me wrong, all I *want* is to be posting lots (since I have been knitting and designing lots), but it seems as though life always gets in the way. Finally I can reveal this green project I’ve been teasing for a little while. It’s a modified version of the #backlesssweetietop by @mermaidsyarns which I made as a graduation gift for one of my best friends. My new website has finally launched!! I am both excited and relieved to finally share it with you all. I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (mostly tears . . . a lot of tears) into bringing my vision to life. If you have a minute to look at it, I’d really appreciate that 🥰 I’ve been planning to use this picture and say something like "this is the happy face of someone who just finished redoing their website," but a couple weeks have come and gone, and I’m still not finished. 🙃 It seems like in the process of redoing my website absolutely everything that could’ve gone wrong has gone wrong, hence why it’s taking much longer than expected. My hope is to be done within the next week, but that depends on how fast I can solve the issues I’m currently facing. Wish me luck! So hard to choose just one photo for this post! Lark always gets silly during photoshoots, so there are a lot of pictures of her laughing . . . mostly at herself for making such funny faces when she thinks I’m not looking. I thought this picture pretty accurately captured the joy of the moment. That colour though!! 😍 So psyched about this top! Ever since I first saw this pattern, I knew I had to make it. I have so many knit and crochet tank tops that get a lot of wear throughout the warmer months but not the rest of the year. This top is the perfect layering piece to allow me to wear my tank tops in colder weather too. After faaaaar too many failed attempts to even out the length and width of this sweater’s sleeves through blocking, I’ve finally decided to undo and re-knit one, if not both, of the sleeves. It will be annoying (and difficult) to undo because of all the colour changes, but I’d rather face that challenge than continue to wear the sweater as is. I may even redo part of the body to add more stockinette and minimize the amount of ribbing. We’ll see how I feel after the sleeves 😅 2 years of university complete!! Happy Earth Day!
